SUNSHINE DANMARK started as a project designed by the Founder, Sara Kobli, in 2006 in Ivory Coast, as a result of the political crisis since 2002 that increased poverty rate and raised unemployment among young people.
After having developed and funded her own Taxi business from the sale of recycled good while being a student, she realized that they were other decent ways to generate income than the mainstream education and access to employment route; but also other ways to access funding than relying on banks and microfinance institutions. And that these ways could help young people get out of poverty.
Her experience in development aid and encounter with many young African refugees in Denmark made her realize that youth unemployment and poverty is a shared problem throughout Africa. Therefore she decided to use her experience and knowledge to contribute at his humble level in improving the situation.
SUNSHINE DANMARK will later be established as an organization in 2013 with the mission to contribute to reducing the high youth unemployment rate in Africa by empowering and supporting young people in Africa to become financially self reliant.
